My Sweet Pea Is Growing Up

Last Wednesday, Elah had her very first trip to the dentist. I didn't get to go because I had to work but from what Sarah said, she did great.
I was worried because I can remember my trip to the dentist and it wasn't a pleasant experience. To this day I am still terrified of them.
Thankfully it didn't go that way for my sweet pea. I came home that night from work and she ran and got this paper thing that has cartoons showing you how to brush and floss your teeth and said,"look Daddy!"
She had to show me that and her new toothbrush kit that he gave her.

Today we are going to a local fair they have around here every year. They always have farm animals, rides and so on. We are going with my parents so Elah can see the animals. SHE LOVES ANIMALS. Especially ducks and cows. I'll make another post to tell ya'll how it went.

Sarah has another doctors appointment today, I'm sure everything is good, little Asher is kicking like crazy.

Other than that, everything is going great in the Massey house hold. Sarah is still very pregnant, Elah is still rotten as ever, and I'm still working.

Fresh Beat Band and Mickey..... I Hate You....

You know your a parent when your at work and you either have one of the many Fresh Beat Band songs or the Hot Dog song stuck in your head.

Yep, its sad isn't it? I don't know if many of you are familiar with the fresh beat band that comes on nickelodeon but its one of Elahs favorite shows.
They sing a song about getting going in the morning, solving problems, going banana's,etc..
I can't tell you how many times I have been at work and an issue comes up and the problem solving song pops in my head and stays there the rest of the day. Or some body says bananas. In the show if somebody says bananas the drummer " Marina" says " did somebody say BANANAS! then they break into song. Next thing I know I'm singing " Na na na na na na lets go bananas".

And just because I can, I'm going to make ya'll suffer to. ----> (evil laugh) HAHAHAHA!

Elah also loves Mickey Mouse Club House and at the end of each episode they do the "Hot Dog Dance"

Wow its been a long time!

Man, its been a long time since my last post. January as a matter of fact. But I will say I have a good excuse. I'm lucky if I get time to do anything anymore.
Anyways, so much has happened since then. I was promoted to Assistant Food Service Director at work, we moved to another apartment, Elah has grown up so much and.... Are you ready for this.......We have having a baby boy!
and of course we didn't find out until we moved into our new place. I told Sarah that we needed to stop moving because she ends up pregnant. If you can remember, we found out Sarah was pregnant with Elah about a month after we moved into our old apartment.
My little boys name is going to be Asher Emmaus Massey.
Our announcement photos

I gotta say that this pregnancy unlike when sarah was pregnant with Elah, has flew by. Ashers due date is November 25th.  so just alittle over 2 months away!!!
Elah is getting bigger and smarter everyday. She is talking in complete sentences now, shes sleeping in a toddler bed, and FINALLY sleeping through the night.
She LOVES Minnie Mouse and of course everytime we go out I always find her something with Minnie on it.
She always poses for the camera

First trip to the zoo

"Get chu my daddy."

Yep, Daddy's girl.

I may not have a lot of money, but I am still the richest man in the world because I am EXTREMELY blessed!

Elah, Sleep Is A Good Thing.

So for some reason the past few weeks Elah has not been sleeping well at ALL. We're not sure if its where her teeth are coming in or what, but I can tell you, its really starting to get old. She started throwing tantrums every time she wakes up and Sarah usually will have to sit her down in the floor and let her do her thing because we're afraid she will throw herself out of our arms.
I gotta say tho that last Monday night had to be the worst night since she was born. We put her down around 7 like we normally do and she fell asleep pretty easy. I think she woke up once between 7 and 12. Then around 12:30 she woke up and didn't go back to bed till 3:30.
We tried everything, I rocked her, Sarah rocked her, but nothing was working. a few times she would dose off but when we laid her in her crib she would start screaming. Eventually we just sat her in the crib  and let her cry while me and Sarah laid my sleeping bags in the floor of her bedroom and tried to rest a bit. hour and a half later shes still crying(The cry it out method doesn't work with her, trust me we tried).
SO we then got her up and calmed her down. We put a few toys in her crib with her this time since she was wide awake, while me and Sarah tried to get some sleep cause at this point we could barely hold our eyes open.
I remember waking up and looking in her crib and saw that Elah had put herself to sleep by herself so I'm thinking "finally we can all get some sleep". 30 mins later she was awake and screaming again. We eventually got her to sleep  at some point  but she only slept about an hour and a half so i just got up with her and let Sarah sleep till 9:30 then we traded off.
Thank goodness I was off the next two days otherwise I doubt I would have made it at work.
I'll be so glad when she finally sleeps through the night. If any of y'all have any suggestions I'd sure like to hear them.

My Resolution

So I'm sure a lot of you have either seen or at least heard of the movie Courageous. I read the book way back before it was released in theaters. It touched me in more ways than one. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
Anyways in the movie the main character Adam Mitchell comes up with something called the resolution. It challenges all men to stand up and take responsibility for their families. Men everywhere has decided to take the resolution challenge, including me. After I read the book I decided right then that I was going to "sign" the resolution. For Christmas my wife bought me the book "The Resolution For Men".

Which is kinda like the love dare but different, its kinda hard to explain.
If you are a father,or husband MAN UP! And take the challenge.
Here is the Resolution.

The
Resolution

I DO solemnly resolve before God to take full
responsibility for myself, my wife, and my children.

I WILL love them, protect them, serve them, and teach
them the Word of God as the spiritual leader of my home.

I WILL be faithful to my wife, to love and honor her,
and be willing to lay down my life for her as
Jesus Christ did for me.

I WILL bless my children and teach them to love god with
all of their hearts, all of their minds, and all of their strength.

I WILL train them to honor authority and live responsibly.

I WILL confront evil, pursue justice, and love mercy.

I WILL pray for others and treat them with
kindness, respect, and compassion.

I WILL work diligently to provide for the needs of my family.

I WILL forgive those who have wronged me
and reconcile with those I have wronged.

I WILL Learn from my mistakes, repent of my sins,
and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God.

I WILL seek to honor God, be faithful to His church,
obey His Word, and do His will.

I WILL courageously work with the strength God provides
to fulfill this resolution for the rest of my life and for His glory.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:15

So will you take the challenge? I promise you it will not be easy, but it will change your life.

Catching Up (Part 2)

So, we had just finished our Christmas at my parents. A few days later on Christmas eve  we went to the the Christmas eve get together that my in laws have every year. Elah got to meet most of her family on Sarah's side, an she LOVED the attention. We had alot of stuff to eat and Elah ate alot, either that or she gave it to Maggie(Her uncle Dylan's dog) without us looking.
After everyone left we opened presents with Nene and Papaw. I swear between Me and Sarah, my parents, and Sarah's parents, Elah had enough toys to last her two Christmases. Once again she had a good time playing with the wrapping paper and ribbons.

Christmas at Nene and Papaws

Christmas day I had to work 9:30 to 6, so I only had Christmas morning with my two ladies. After opening so many presents at  her grandparents we were afraid she wouldn't want anything to do with opening anymore. But we were sure wrong. She had a ball, even though she was half asleep. I think her favorite thing she got was her books. She LOVES books, so we got her a backyardagains book. Even when we tried to open another present she wanted to look at that book.
Christmas Morning.

Notice my red long johns Sarah got me, complete with the butt flap. Come one you know your jealous .

So you read it plain as day on here, yes my little angel is one year old. I'm still trying to believe it. Shes growing up so fast and is getting smarter everyday, maybe alittle to smart.  Here's some pictures from her birthday party.

Its know been a few weeks since then. and Elah is walking, she still needs alittle help but just in the past few days she has really taken off. She saying more words, and is getting more rotten each day. Just tonight she figured out how to climb up on the couch and that's all she wanted to do.
My baby girl isn't a baby anymore, shes becoming a toddler. But no matter what whether shes a toddler, teenager, or a grown woman, she will always be my little baby girl.
